COMMUNITIES IN MOTION: A Grassroots Exchange for Change
Saturday, March 26th from 9am to 5pm
Rohnerville Grange Hall (301 Mill Street, Fortuna)
Communities in Motion is a day of story-sharing, skills workshops, and building power together as many groups come together who are working to improve access to physical activity, good nutrition, and active transportation.
Come to hear stories and learn skills from Free to Pee - the Bathroom Access Campaign; or from Humboldt Healthy Hero Julie Johansen, who got all of Southern Humboldt hoola hooping for the governor's challenge; or from the North Coast Community Gardens Collaborative, who brought gardeners together from all over the county to share resources and make gardening more visible and more respected.
-Learn diverse skills like:
-Speaking at public meetings
-Doing a neighborhood walkability audit
-Gain support for the work you're doing
-Meet public officials to get them on board with your work
-Get involved with struggles, issues and projects you care about
If you're interested in making a difference in our community through changing access to physical activity, nutrition and transportation, this is the event for you.
Communities in Motion goes all day long, but you can come for any part of the day - it will all be inspiring and fascinating!
There will be childcare, interpretation in Hmong and Spanish, and delicious lunch!
This event is organized by Humboldt CAN -- Community for Activity and Nutrition.
