Letter sent to the Times-Standard:
Democracy Unlimited would like to thank all the businesses and farmers who contributed to our forth annual workshop, “Community Organizing for Deep Democracy.” This event attracts organizers and activists from across the country for an intensive training on the skills needed for building a democracy movement from the ground up.
Our hardworking volunteers help us prepare all the meals for this full weekend training. We were proud to showcase our local activism as well as local food grown by the good folks at Neukum Family Farm, Redwood Roots Farm, Rain Frog Farm, Pierce Family Farm, Hunter Orchards, Trident Lightning Farm, G Farm, Claudia's Herbs, Willow Creek Farm, Warren Creek Farm, and I & I Farm.
We are also grateful for the support from many local businesses including Wildberries, the Northcoast Coop, Loleta Cheese Factory, Los Bagels, Ramones, and Nona Lena's.
Our workshop participants were impressed by the spread, as well as the natural beauty of our home. They left inspired and invigorated to organize their hometowns to stand up to corporate power and assert their community rights.
Thanks so much to everyone for helping us host another successful Deep Democracy training and making us proud to live in Humboldt County!
