As you may know, I serve as President for the Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District and we are currently in the midst of an important public process called Water Resource Planning. We achieved an important mile stone in the Water Resource Planning process late last year when the District's Board of Directors agreed on the Framework for Evaluating Water Resource Planning Options. This Framework was the result of input from over 200 citizens at a Citizen's Study Group and three different public meetings last Fall.
Now, we are in the process of generating options for beneficial water uses to which the Framework will be applied. This is where you come in. We need to develop options that help the District protect its water rights and maintain reasonable water rates. We would love to hear your ideas on what potential uses might be. And we'd love to receive those ideas by the end of February. To submit your ideas via email, please go to www.hbmwd.com
, click on the Water Resource Planning button then click on the Input Form. For those who do not want to use the internet, please mail them to HBMWD, PO Box 95, Eureka, CA 95502 or send via fax to (707) 443-5731.
Once we synthesize all the input we have received from ideas submitted online along with those generated at the Water Workshop on January 19 and the two public meetings held on February 1, we will draft initial recommendations and vet those at three public meetings in the Spring. Your contribution of ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is an important planning effort involving the future of our water rights and rates. Please consider taking a few moments to "Join the Flow" and contribute your ideas.
